    Artist Wayne and Jacqui headed to Sydney to spend ANZAC Day 2014 with 91 year old WWII Veteran Reg Davis. Reg served during WWII with the 2/6 Cavalry Commando Regiment in New Guinea and is part of Artist Wayne’s ANZAC Portrait Series.

    Ted Mulligan grew up in the Guyra district and began his military career with the Australian Light Horse. At the outbreak of War Ted joined the 2/7 Armoured Regiment and trained in NSW. After training as a wireless operator Ted then joined the Australian Small Ships and embarked for New Guinea.

  • ANZAC Portrait Series – Alex White – Part 2

    Alex White joined the Australian Army in 1941 as an Infantry Engineer and eventually embarked for Malaya to reinforce the 2/19 Battalion. Alex became a POW during the fall of Singapore, was imprisoned at Changi and then sent to work on the Thai Burma Rail. He contracted Malaria which developed into the deadly Black Water Fever. Alex survived his time as a POW and returned to Australia in 1945.

  • ANZAC Portrait Series – Alex White – Part 1

    Alex “Snow” White served with the 2/19th Battalion in Malaya and was captured by the Japanese in the fall of Singapore. Alex was sent to Changi and went out on working parties to build a shrine for the Japanese. After Changi POW Camp he was sent to work on the Infamous Thai Burma Railway.
